What we do
The Students First Team offer and provide person centred support with passion, honesty and integrity. Any student who may be experiencing or encountering problems with university life. Whether this be from a physical health or mental health perspective, we can help you to feel integrated into university life. We are proud that we can make a difference to students’ health and wellbeing and endeavour to make their time here successful. Our department is here to give you as much support as you need and to help you meet your goal of successfully graduating. The team work closely with all the University departments including Personal Tutors and the Schools of Study. We encourage all students to share with us anything that impacts on their studies so that we can work with them to maximise their ability to successfully complete their degree. What happens when you call us
To make the process of identifying the support a student may need, we have put in place a simple process to ensure all our students access the most appropriate help in a timely and efficient manner. Students First department has staff with many years of dedicated experience, and unlike other institutions the help that is offered is very quick and waiting lists very short.
So when you call 01280 820200 you will first speak to one of our Student Advisers who will ascertain the most appropriate form of help. This may be signposting to other departments or services, or booking a Triage appointment to see either Dee Bunker or Dan Sinclair who will determine the most appropriate support service based on your physical, emotional or mental health needs.
