If you wish to apply directly to the University for a taught degree, you can apply in one of three ways:

If you wish to apply to study for a research degree with no taught component (DPhil; MPhil; LLM; MSc; MA) download our Research Application Form, which may be returned electronically or by post. This form is Appendix 1 of the Research Degrees Handbook.

Preparing to fill in the form

Applicants who have disclosed or who would like to disclose a disability or additional requirement are strongly advised to contact the Student Welfare Department (student.welfare@buckingham.ac.uk; tel +44 (0)1280 814080). Students will then be able to discuss how the University may meet these needs, before formally accepting an offer.

We need the information in this form in order to process your application and to complete our student records if you are offered a place and come to Buckingham. If you do not come to Buckingham your application will be kept on file for up to 1 year.

Postgraduate research applications

You can apply for our taught postgraduate programmes with the standard online application form (follow the link above). Due to the specialist nature of postgraduate research, you should discuss your research proposal with your prospective supervisor or the relevant academic department before applying.     Don’t forget your transcripts and references

    In order to process your application we will require your most recent academic transcripts, and one letter of recommendation, from your current or last school / college if you are applying for undergraduate study, or two if you are applying for postgraduate study.

    A letter of recommendation must be an official letter, written by somebody who has taught you, demonstrating your ability as a student and your suitability for university study. If it is more than 5 years since you left full-time education then your reference letter may be written by your employer. The form below should be downloaded and then filled in by your referee. It should then be posted or faxed to the Admissions Office where we will process it as part of your application.
