Father of Bristol University student suicide victim to unveil his “suicide prevention pledge” at Buckingham Festival of Higher Education

11 June 2018

James Murray, whose son Ben tragically died last month in Bristol, has drawn up a ten-point plan to try to get universities to change the way they treat youngsters struggling with mental health on campus.

He has been working with Bristol University and also leading mental health campaigner Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice-Chancellor of The University of Buckingham, to try to get something done to help vulnerable students.

Mr Murray’s “suicide prevention pledge” ten point action plan will be unveiled on Thursday morning on the second day of the Festival of Higher Education in a session on mental health chaired by Sir Anthony and with author Nancy Tucker. This is just prior to Universities Minister Sam Gyimah speaking.
