Royal Charter 40th Anniversary

11 February 2023

Saturday 11 February 2023 marks the 40th anniversary of our Royal Charter.

On this day in 1983, The University of Buckingham officially became a proper University, with the authorisation to award degrees. Prior to this, licences were awarded under the University College Buckingham. Alumni from all over were invited to exchange their licences for degrees from 40 years ago today.

To celebrate, the University will be hosting a number of Alumni events, along with the establishment of the Royal Charter 40th Anniversary Scholarship, to be launched in due course.
