Tort Law, by joint authors Carol Brennan and Vera Bermingham, was published in its fifth edition in May 2016. It is part of Oxford University Press’s Directions series, which approaches the fundamental areas of law in a way which enables students to gain a complete understanding of the topic in context. Each book has a connected set of online resources. Tort Law includes such diverse topics as negligence, nuisance and defamation and the book aims to make accessible traditionally challenging legal issues such as causation and the duty of care for pure economic loss in the law of negligence.

Carol Brennan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law. She teaches Tort, Evidence, Medical Law and Criminology & Criminal Justice.  Her current main area of research is into the world-wide movement of holding official inquiries into historic institutional child abuse.
