Successful sports presenter, podcaster and documentary maker, David Garrido, has visited The University of Buckingham to teach second year journalism students about working in the broadcast industry.

With over 15 years in media broadcasting, David held a creative radio workshop showcasing some of his previous work followed by a Q&A session.

Before becoming one of the regular presenters on Sky Sports News, David graduated from Oxford University and went on to spend a number of years as the main reporter for BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat, Match of the Day and the Final Score.

David said: “I really enjoyed spending a few hours chatting with the students, seeing how engaged they were while discussing various elements of radio presenting and production.  You can tell there are some very talented individuals here and they’ve got the drive to succeed, so I’ll look forward to seeing how they progress in years to come.”

Journalism, Media and Communication student, Samantha Carmichael said: “The session was great. As this was a small group teaching session we could all have our burning questions answered, and he truly wanted to help us as much as he could.

“It was brilliant seeing a successful journalist in the flesh, and as he said, if he can achieve this much then so can we. I’m going to be acting on every single piece of advice he gave me.”
