I was at a crossroads when I decided to pursue a law degree, so discovering that Buckingham offered an accelerated two-year LLB was genuinely exciting. Studying at Buckingham brought both challenging and rewarding moments, each contributing meaningfully to my growth. As an international student balancing an intensive academic schedule with part-time work and extracurricular activities, and aiming for a first-class degree, my resilience and discipline were constantly tested.

One of Buckingham’s greatest strengths is its support system, particularly the personal tutoring structure. The guidance and accessibility of academic and non-academic staff played a significant role in my experience, and I remain deeply appreciative of their contribution to my development. The interactive nature of workshops and tutorials was especially impactful. Regular engagement not only strengthened my analytical and communication skills but also helped me overcome self-doubt and build confidence.

A defining aspect of my journey was developing a constructive mindset toward feedback and assessment. Rather than viewing disappointing grades as setbacks, I learned to treat them as opportunities for refinement. Seeking clarification, reflecting on feedback, and adjusting my approach proved invaluable to my progress. Tutorials, in particular, taught me that consistent participation and openness to learning often yield unexpected rewards, both intellectually and professionally.

For prospective students, my advice is simple: approach the experience with optimism and initiative. Buckingham’s accelerated structure is demanding, but growth often lies within that intensity. Moments of uncertainty are natural, yet perseverance and a willingness to seek support make a profound difference. Take advantage of the opportunities available, whether through mooting, Citizens Advice, Street Law, sports, or student societies. Participation builds experience, and experience builds confidence.

Most importantly, maintain perspective. Challenges are inevitable in any academic journey, but mindset determines how you navigate them. Stay curious, remain resilient, and do not hesitate to ask for guidance. With the right approach, the Buckingham experience can be both transformative and deeply rewarding.
