The years between the outbreak of the Great War in 1914 and the fall of Margaret Thatcher in 1990 were among the most tumultuous in Britain’s history. Politics and society changed almost out of recognition. Two world wars and technological advances caused personal and economic upheaval. An understanding of these events is central to our understanding of Britain today.
In this presentation, Professor Simon Heffer, director of the 20th century British history MA course, will discuss the importance of the period and why it is so rewarding to study.
