What We Can Do For You

Employers have high expectations of graduates and offer high salaries to employees with degrees. They know exactly what skills they require in graduates and, with this in mind, the Careers Service staff are well placed to give advice & help students find the job of their dreams. We encourage you to start your career planning early and review it throughout your degree programme. We help you to do this by offering a range of services.

The Careers Library contains a wealth of information from actual job vacancies to how to prepare for graduate recruitment tests. We will help you find what you need to explore the career options open to you.

Help securing work experience

Our Careers Team are well connected and very knowledgeable. You can work with them to find an internship or work placement that suits your skills and timetable. Here is what one of our students had to say about their internship:

I have enjoyed this ‘taster’ of the real working world – being eased in gently but also having various responsibilities and interactions with fellow employees. I have learnt how to use various IT softwares and programmes and to carry out certain tasks, which has really improved my technological competence.

The idea at first was scary, however the freedom to apply my university-taught knowledge has even allowed me to come up with and pitch various successful ideas to the Managing Director!

I would recommend internships 100% to students – this experience has allowed me to gather a clearer idea of the sort of environment I would like to work in and the sort of work I would like to do, as well as to gather experience and build the important skills needed in working life.
