Choosing to study my LLB (Hons) at The University of Buckingham was a deliberate decision, shaped by the university’s two year degree structure and its emphasis on small, tutorial based teaching. With a clear ambition to pursue a career at the Bar, I wanted an academic environment that would challenge me intellectually while also supporting my professional development. Buckingham provided the ideal balance of both.

The intensity of the two year programme required focus, discipline, and resilience. Managing this workload while engaging in a wide range of extracurricular and professional opportunities was demanding, but ultimately rewarding. I am proud to have achieved a first class degree while actively participating in mini pupillages, employment, and legal internships alongside my studies. These experiences allowed me to apply legal theory to real world practice and strengthened my commitment to the profession.

Buckingham offers a wealth of opportunities beyond the classroom. The availability of societies, volunteering roles, and practical legal experiences enabled me to develop essential skills such as time management, advocacy, teamwork, and professionalism. Mooting in particular played a significant role in developing my confidence and oral advocacy, further preparing me for the demands of a career at the Bar.

The Law School lecturers are a standout feature of the university. Their expertise, approachability, and dedication to student success create an exceptional learning environment. The small tutorial groups allow for meaningful discussion and personalised feedback, ensuring that students are fully supported throughout their academic journey. The guidance and encouragement provided by the lecturers were instrumental in helping me maintain high academic standards while pursuing extensive professional experience.
