Matteo Pezzella

Portrait photo of MatteoI decided to study my LLB (Hons) Law at The University of Buckingham because of its strong academic reputation and the opportunity to complete an undergraduate law degree in two years. The accelerated structure of the programme was particularly appealing, as it allowed me to progress efficiently towards further study at the Bar. From the outset, Buckingham stood out for its emphasis on personalised learning, supported by small class sizes and an open-door policy.

The two-year law degree structure requires a high level of commitment and discipline, which helped me stay motivated throughout my studies. One of the most valuable aspects of my experience was the small class sizes, which significantly enhanced the quality of lectures and my understanding of the material. The teaching staff were consistently approachable and always willing to offer guidance and support on academic and professional matters.

Work experience and student life

A highlight of my time at Buckingham was my involvement in mooting competitions. I participated in both internal client interviewing competitions and external events, including the Landmark Chambers Judicial Review Moot and the BPP Advocate of the Year Mock Trial Competition. These experiences greatly enhanced my legal reasoning and advocacy skills, while also strengthening my CV with valuable practical legal experience.

I was also an active member of the student community, serving as an elected member of both the Law Society and the Debate Society. These roles allowed me to develop my teamwork, organisational, and leadership skills while helping to organise opportunities and events for other students.

Overall, my time at The University of Buckingham was both intense and extremely rewarding. The academic approach, wide range of extracurricular opportunities, and the welcoming staff and student community provided an excellent foundation for my future in the legal profession. I am grateful for the opportunities I was given and the lasting friendships I made during my time at the University of Buckingham.
