Course: LLB (Hons) Law with Business Management
Home country: UK, local to Buckingham
Graduation: 2025
I came to the University of Buckingham after two years away from education, working in the Equine industry. My academic background was predominantly in English and Art, and with no prior knowledge of Law I felt as though I was really jumping off the deep end by enrolling in a two-year accelerated programme. Upon reflection, I was, but it was the best decision I have ever made.
The calibre of teaching at the University of Buckingham is second to none and goes beyond simply preparing students to pass exams. Lectures are engaging and the learning materials provided by professors enable you to develop a deep knowledge of each area of study. This is further supported by the small group tutorials which allow you to share ideas, ask questions and receive comprehensive feedback. Staff are also happy to schedule meetings and answer any questions you may have 1:1.
However, The University of Buckingham is much more than just academics. The Buckingham Law School is unique in its ability to transform its students both academically and personally. The degree programme subtly pushes students out of their comfort zone, and before you know it students (like myself) who were too shy to raise their hand in class are delivering presentations, networking, mooting and stepping positively into any challenge presented to them.
Work Experience and Student Life
The confidence I developed throughout my undergraduate degree enabled me to keep pushing myself to take on as many opportunities as possible. In my time at Buckingham, I have had the privilege of participating in a multitude of extra-curricular activities. These include Law Without Walls, volunteering for Citizens Advice, participating in mentorship schemes, sitting on student panels, and becoming a founding member of the Investment Society.
Each of these achievements is a testament to the unwavering support presented by both staff and students at Buckingham. As I look back now, I recognise how invaluable that support network has been in shaping both my academic success and personal growth. The sense of community on campus makes it possible to try, fail and try again safe in the knowledge that you are surrounded by peers who are navigating the same challenges alongside you.
To reflect on my journey as the proud recipient of a first-class degree is extremely rewarding and is something I never anticipated at the start of my journey. My achievement is truly a reflection of the quality of staff, the strength of the academic programme and the transformative experience that The University of Buckingham provides. I look forward to building on the success of the past two years as I now embark on my LLM with SQE1 Preparation at Buckingham.
