Beyond apprenticeships
Explore broader collaboration opportunities
While apprenticeships are a key part of our commitment to workforce development, there are many other ways employers and partners can collaborate with the University of Buckingham. From engaging with our Careers and Employability initiatives, offering micro-internships, and supporting inclusive education through our Dyslexia Hub, to partnering on international projects or engaging with our Security and Intelligence Centre of Excellence, we welcome diverse forms of engagement. Our campus facilities, business innovation services through the Buckingham Enterprise and Innovation Unit, and strong professional networks offer further opportunities for collaboration.
We invite you to explore the many ways we can work together to inspire talent, foster innovation, and drive meaningful impact:
Buckingham Business School
The University of Buckingham’s Business School is driven by an entrepreneurial ethos, equipping students with practical skills and real-world insights to prepare them for careers in today’s dynamic business environment.
We actively encourage collaboration with local employers and professionals who can support our students’ development. Opportunities include mentoring Business undergraduates as they progress through their studies, and participating in our popular Guest Lecture Programme, a voluntary initiative where business leaders engage with students on current topics in business and management.

Careers and Employability Service
The Careers and Employability Service can support local, national and international employers to find fresh talent and promote their brand, which will enrich the experience of our students. Across the academic year, we offer the chance for employers to get involved in on-campus events, webinars, social media takeovers and more.
If you have a short-term project need, we can support you with sourcing a motivated student to help you through our B-Enterprising micro-internship scheme. The scheme is a great way to add value, bring a fresh perspective to your organisation and provide some meaningful work experience to a student.
Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies
The Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS) is one of the few academic centres of distinction in the field, and carries a strong global reputation. Founded in 2008, it has focused on providing high-quality education and training for existing and aspiring security professionals. We offer a unique blend of academic programmes, from Bachelor’s to PhD level; and short courses and CPD programmes aimed at the professional market. Our emphasis throughout is on developing career options in the burgeoning security sector across the public and private sector.
Dyslexia Hub
Our Dyslexia Hub is a pioneering initiative aimed at fostering excellence, research, and innovation in the field of dyslexia and other specific learning differences (SpLDs) within Further and Higher Education (FE/HE).
Our vision goes beyond merely raising awareness; we aim to address the existing gap in educator training within FE/HE and work placement settings. As part of the Dyslexia Hub, we create marketable, specialised courses, both online and in person, to train educators and employers in recognising and supporting dyslexic and neurodivergent students and employees effectively.
These courses are beneficial for employers who wish to create a more inclusive environment and help their employees reach their full potential. Through our research, we have found that these initiatives increase performance for neurodiverse individuals while enhancing the learning experience for all, creating a truly inclusive environment that benefits both students and employees.
Law
The University of Buckingham’s Law School is renowned for its strong academic foundation, practical focus, and commitment to student success. As part of our wider outreach and employer engagement activity, we welcome collaboration with law firms, chambers, and organisations across the legal services sector.
Whether you can offer mentoring, short-term work experience, involvement in our Lawyering Skills events and competitions; or a full integrated one-year placement as part of our LLB degree programmes, your involvement can make a real difference in shaping the next generation of legal professionals.
The Law School also hosts a range of events throughout the year, including the annual LawFest, which brings together local schools, employers, and legal professionals to explore pathways into the legal sector. These events offer a valuable platform to raise awareness of careers in law, share insights, and inspire future talent through education and employer-led discussion.
