Raising Awareness, Creating Opportunity, Nurturing Ambition
Hosted by the University of Buckingham Law School & Oakgrove School
Wednesday 12 October, at Oakgrove School in Milton Keynes
An exciting careers event and the first of its kind, LawFest was hosted by Oakgrove School in Milton Keynes and Buckingham Law School at the University of Buckingham.
LawFest fostered awareness of the diversity of legal careers available, creating valuable opportunities for pupils at schools in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas. It offered intriguing, first-hand insight into the life of a lawyer from leading London and local law firms, as well as other legal organisations that were in attendance.
It provided vital information to those interested in a career in law, and guidance for those who are eager to learn more. LawFest encouraged those who might otherwise be intimidated by the formal and stuffy reputation of the legal world to consider a career in law, and empower pupils of all backgrounds and ethnicities to realise their potential.
Those who attended heard from practising lawyers about their life journeys and experience. This included information about all the possible ways of becoming either a solicitor, legal executive, or a paralegal, including solicitor apprenticeships and CILEX.
There was also discussion on why the University of Buckingham’s two-year law degree (LLB) is the best possible preparation for a career in law. And… it’s right on your doorstep!
A number of high-profile, prestigious law firms attended, to enhance understanding of the industry.
