Emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, are embedded throughout the programme, ensuring you graduate with the knowledge and confidence to work in an evolving digital landscape.

Assessment is varied and reflects the diverse skills you’ll develop. Alongside essays, reports, and reflective writing, you’ll complete practical projects such as creating social media campaigns, producing videos, developing photography portfolios, and designing multimedia content. This allows you to showcase both your academic knowledge and your creative abilities.

This degree is designed with employability at its heart. You’ll build a professional portfolio throughout your studies, take part in industry-focused projects, and develop the entrepreneurial skills needed to succeed as a freelance creator or within all types of organisations. You’ll learn how to pitch ideas, work with clients, manage creative projects, and combine creativity with commercial awareness—skills that are increasingly sought after by employers.

Graduates leave with a distinctive combination of literary expertise, digital production skills, and professional experience, opening doors to careers in publishing, journalism, digital marketing, and the wider creative industries. Teaching and assessment

We keep class sizes small so you won’t get lost in the crowd. You will be assigned a personal tutor to support you every step of the way, and our academic and student support teams will ensure you have the tools to success in your studies. We value the quality of your learning experience.

    Teaching methods

You’ll learn through a blend of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials and practical studio sessions that combine academic study with hands-on creative practice. Our teaching is interactive and collaborative, encouraging you to discuss ideas, analyse texts, solve creative challenges and develop your professional skills.

Throughout the course, you’ll engage with a wide range of learning activities, from close reading and critical discussion to content creation, multimedia production and project-based learning. You’ll explore literature alongside contemporary digital storytelling, gaining experience with industry-standard tools, emerging technologies and AI-enhanced creative workflows.

Learning is carefully structured to support your development at every stage of your degree. You’ll build core knowledge and skills in your first year, apply them to increasingly ambitious creative and professional projects in your second year, and work with greater independence and confidence in your final year. Along the way, you’ll benefit from regular guidance, personalised feedback and opportunities to collaborate with academics, industry professionals and fellow students, helping you develop as both a critical thinker and creative practitioner.

    Assessment Methods

Assessment on this programme is designed to reflect both the academic and professional skills you’ll develop throughout your studies. You’ll complete a varied range of assessments that allow you to demonstrate your knowledge, creativity and technical expertise in different ways.

Alongside traditional academic assessments such as essays, reports and reflective writing, you’ll undertake practical and creative projects that mirror the types of work produced in the creative industries. These may include digital content, photography, video production, multimedia storytelling, presentations and social media campaigns. The majority of assessments are coursework based, and there are a small number of exams on the English side.

Many assessments are based on real-world scenarios, giving you the opportunity to respond to client briefs, develop creative concepts and produce professional-quality content for different audiences and platforms. As you progress through the programme, you’ll build a portfolio of work that showcases both your literary understanding and your digital media skills.

Assessment is designed to support your development throughout the degree, with increasing opportunities to work independently, manage complex projects and demonstrate originality. Regular formative feedback helps you refine your work and build confidence before completing summative assessments.

In your final year, you’ll bring together the knowledge and skills you’ve developed by completing either an independent dissertation or a substantial digital media project, allowing you to specialise in an area of interest while producing a significant piece of work that prepares you for graduate employment or further study.
