Graduation FAQs

Where will the ceremonies take place?

The ceremonies will take place in Buckingham. Please see our venues and schedules page.


What time is my Graduation on the 6 November?

We will try to allocate you to your preferred time slot and we will confirm the timing with you before 24 September.


How many tickets have I been allocated?

Each graduate will be allowed to bring a maximum of two guests.


How will I receive my tickets?

Tickets will be issued on your day of Graduation when signing in at the Vinson Building.


Is there a charge for tickets?

All tickets are free of charge.


Can I have additional tickets?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that additional seats will be available. Any additional tickets that may be available will be allocated after the online booking system has closed on 10 September 2021. Please email after 24 September stating how many additional tickets you are looking to obtain and the reason why.


Can our friends and family sit outside the Church with no ticket?

We do not encourage additional guests with no tickets to come on to campus or sit outside of the Church. They may be moved by security.  The event will be live-streamed on the University of Buckingham YouTube channel for friends and family to watch in the comfort of their own home.


When will I receive my degree certificate?

MBChB graduates have already had their degrees conferred and certificates posted. For those graduands having degrees conferred in the Autumn Ceremonies, you will receive your certificate during the ceremony itself. If you will be graduating in absentia, your certificate will be posted the week following the Graduation Ceremony.


Is there a deadline to order the gown, hood and cap?

Please ensure you have placed your order at least three weeks prior to your ceremony to guarantee your gown, hood and cap will be available to collect on your Graduation day.


What does the Reception include?

There will be a glass of Prosecco and canapés waiting for you and your two guests.  There will be a cloakroom for those who wish to hang up their coats. Guests will be able to use the toilet facilities in the Vinson Building next to the marquee.


Do we need tickets to get attend the Reception?

Yes. You and your two guests will each receive a ticket for entry into the Ceremony and a ticket into the Reception, these must be presented at the door to each venue.


How long will the event last?

Both the Ceremony and Reception will each last approximately one hour.


Will there be any safety measures put in place for COVID-19?

We will strictly follow all COVID-19 government guidelines for university events in place at the time. Information will be regularly updated on our graduation pages.


I was due to graduate in 2020 or 2021 and my ceremony was postponed due to COVID-19. Am I eligible to attend the Autumn Ceremonies?

The Autumn Ceremonies are for students successfully completing their studies between March 2021 and August 2021. All eligible students have been contacted. Graduates who have unfortunately had their ceremonies postponed due to COVID-19 and had virtual proceedings instead will be invited to attend re-conferral ceremonies due to take place week commencing Monday 25 July 2022. Invitations will be sent in December 2021.

Terms and Conditions

In line with the University of Buckingham’s Privacy Notice, personal data (including award and classification) will be published in the award ceremony booklet. This information will also be passed to third parties involved in the ceremonies (including our local paper and commemorative clothing suppliers). All published details will be available on our archive and our website following the relevant graduation events.
