So this year, as part of the evening’s merriment, we invite you to take part in our very own:
Battle of the Humanities: The Hand & Flower’s Grand Romantic Ending
Representing the finest minds from our lecturers of English, Journalism, History of Art, and History, they will be showing off their most compelling, romantic, or wildly imaginative ending to the Hand & Flower’s historic tale.
Will it be a sweeping love story? A secret artist’s muse? A political intrigue wrapped in petals?
You decide. And the audience will vote on which team reigns supreme!

Good to know
To help us cover costs for refreshments and the venue, we’re asking for a small donation of £1 or more – and in return, a night full of festive fun! Any remaining funds will support future alumni events.
- There are no parking facilities available at the venue.
- The venue is not fully accessible as there is no lift available to First Floor, where the event is hosted.
- There are no accessible toilets on the event floor. However, an accessible toilet is available on the ground floor.
- We have 100 spaces, and we expect these to go quickly, so please register by 1 December to secure your place. Should your plans change, please do let us know so that someone on the waiting list is able to join.
