University mourns the loss of Professor Dennis O’Keeffe

17 December 2014

It is with great sadness that the University has learned of the death of Professor Dennis O’Keeffe.

Professor O’Keeffe was a wide ranging social scientist whose work centred on education and, in particular, the problem of truancy. He became a Research Professor affiliated to the School of Education at Buckingham after his retirement from London Metropolitan University.

An admirer of the aims of The University of Buckingham from its inception, Professor O’Keeffe was also a supporter of the Institute of Economic Affairs and had a wide interest in social philosophy, politics and economics. He edited the collected works of Frédéric Bastiat and translated the Principles of Politics Applicable to All Governments by Benjamin Constant published by the Liberty Fund in 2003.

He was a much valued colleague at Buckingham and our condolences go to all his family and his many friends.
