EMW Law Mentoring Scheme

The EMW programme stood out for its highly interactive and skills-focused workshops, including client-interview scenarios, presentation tasks, and guided sessions on qualifying work experience/training contract applications. Students repeatedly expressed appreciation for the supportive and approachable culture at EMW. One student shared that “I came to the UK having already decided what I wanted to do, but this experience allowed me to broaden my perspective and experience a different specialisation route, which had a meaningful impact on my ambitions.” Another described the EMW Work Experience Open Day in November as “a highlight” that helped confirm their desire to enter legal practice. Mentors were praised for going “above and beyond,” arranging meetings, offering detailed feedback, and making students feel welcome and confident in a professional environment.

BP Collins Mentoring Scheme

Feedback from the BP Collins programme reflected a similarly positive experience. Student Lily-Rose Flack emphasised how insightful, friendly, and motivating her interactions with Buckingham LLB Alumna, Family Lawyer Emma Eastwood, and the BP Collins team were, noting that the advice she received made the training contract process feel more attainable and less intimidating. The firm’s willingness to openly discuss their own pathways, challenges, and successes resonated particularly strongly with mentees who were looking for clarity and honest guidance.

Constantine Law Mentoring Scheme

Students working with Employment Partner, Fiona Hewitt, Constantine Law, a champion for diversity and inclusivity in the legal workplace, highlighted Fiona’s mentorship as “inspirational and proof that it is possible to excel in the legal field regardless of setbacks”. Fiona’s empathetic and lived experience added another dimension to the growing range of
practical mentorship schemes. Fiona was commended for her professionalism and approachability.

Eitan Fono International Mentoring Scheme

The partnership with International CEO and UOB Honorary Fellow, Eitan Fono, was praised for its personalised and intellectually challenging approach, with a student describing the mentorship sessions as inspiring and eye-opening. Significant value was found in Eitan’s emphasis on effective networking, thoughtful future career planning when choosing electives, and the added benefit of recommended resources on discovering personal strengths.

A Transformative Experience for Aspiring Lawyers

Across all four schemes, students consistently highlighted the confidence gained, clarity achieved, and skills developed through their mentoring relationships and workshop participation. Many reported feeling significantly more prepared for training contract applications, interviews, and workplace expectations. Others emphasised the value of simply having a supportive legal professional to turn to — someone who could answer questions, offer reassurance, and help them navigate an increasingly competitive profession.

The success of the 2025 mentorship schemes, reflects the exceptional commitment of our partner firms and mentors, whose generosity, time, and expertise continue to make a meaningful difference in the professional journeys of our students.
