Buckingham’s Apprenticeship Provision Commended by Ofsted

24 May 2023

The University of Buckingham’s L3 Business Administration apprenticeship offering has been praised by Ofsted inspectors following a monitoring visit report.

The New Provider Monitoring Report scope was focused on the University’s Business Administration learners over three categories:

  • Leadership
  • Quality of training outcomes
  • Safeguarding

The inspection team found that reasonable progress had been made on all three categories which has ensured a place on the Register of Approved Training Providers.

Tutors skillfully aid learning

Ofsted stated that “Well-qualified tutors use a range of appropriate teaching techniques skillfully to aid apprentices’ learning. They carefully link current and previous learning, enabling apprentices to remember new concepts quickly and apply them in their job roles well.”

Apprenticeship Manager, Emma Ward said: “I am extremely proud of the result from Ofsted, it clearly confirms our commitment to the Apprenticeships standard and the expert support and training our Apprentices receive.”

“I am confident the University of Buckingham are committed to continuing to invest and adapt to the Apprenticeship landscape ensuring a quality and meaningful experience for our learners.”

About our apprenticeships

The University of Buckingham offers a number of apprenticeships. The Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship is the most popular, with the next cohort starting in August 2023, although applications are also open for January 2024.

The Teacher Apprenticeship is an employer funded, salaried route for graduates to enter the teaching profession whilst also gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in 12 months, allowing apprentices to earn while they learn.

The university will be expanding its portfolio later this year with the introduction of the Senior Leader Level 7 Apprenticeship in September 2023.

The Senior Leader Apprenticeship is a rigorous programme designed for leaders and managers with busy schedules who would like to develop and enhance their leadership and management skills.
