Buckingham leads the way for campus safety

The Complete University GuideBuckingham is once again leading the way for having one of the safest campuses in the country, according to TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk.

For the third time the University and surrounding area is one of the most crime-free, the rankings reveal. Buckingham comes second in the country for campus safety and is the safest campus in the South East of England.

This year the report, compiled from official police data, has been calculated according to where students live in term-time rather than just looking at statistics for a three mile radius of the main campus.

University of Buckingham Director of Admissions James Seymour said: “We are thrilled to have one of the safest campuses in the country. This new data is particularly useful as it reflects where students live as well as the campus itself. At The University of Buckingham a student isn’t just a number – they are all individuals and we pride ourselves in putting their well-being first. We are the country’s first positive health University and are working to embed positive psychology into our teaching across all our courses.

“We want studying at Buckingham to be the best experience it can possibly be. It’s no coincidence that students voted us top in the National Student Survey (NSS) once again this year – one of the reasons cited by students is that they feel Buckingham is a safe environment to study in.”

The Guide has taken professional advice on the crimes most relevant to students and has looked at burglary, violence and sex crimes. However, the figures are based on all victims in the locality, not just students.
