Join Professor Eric Kaufmann in conversation with Danny Kruger MP for East Wiltshire, Reform UK.
Danny Kruger is a British politician and political thinker, elected as Member of Parliament for Devizes in Wiltshire in December 2019. He has become known for advancing a moral and communitarian critique of modern liberal politics, arguing that social order depends not only on markets and the state but on strong families, shared values, and civic institutions.
In his maiden speech to Parliament in January 2020, Kruger called for a renewal of public life grounded in Christian ethics and a sense of social obligation. He is co-chair, with Miriam Cates, of the New Social Covenant Unit, a policy initiative developing proposals to strengthen family life, rebuild communities, and renew national cohesion. This work builds on a report he authored for the Prime Minister on how to preserve and institutionalise the spirit of mutual aid and solidarity that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2025, Kruger joined Reform UK, aligning himself with the party’s attempt to fuse populist politics with a more intellectually grounded programme of social renewal. His recent book, Covenant, sets out this vision in fuller form, offering a critique of social atomisation and individualism and arguing for a conservatism rooted in family, community, and moral responsibility. Across politics, policy, and writing, Kruger has emerged as a leading figure in debates over post-liberalism and the future direction of the British right.
