Contact me

I am a Lecturer and Researcher within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Centre for Developmental and Complex Trauma (CDCT) at the University of Buckingham, with a PhD in Psychology and an MSc in Research in Clinical Psychology.

In my role as lecturer on the MSc Practitioner in Psychological Trauma course, I hold teaching, supervisory and leadership responsibilities, including leading on the ‘Research Methods and Dissertation’ module, and co-leading on ‘Theories of Psychological Trauma’. I also supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. To date, I have supervised three undergraduate students and eight MSc students. I am particularly passionate about making research accessible and developing students’ confidence and curiosity in conducting research, recognising that this is an area that can often evoke anxiety in practitioners. My teaching therefore focuses on making statistical concepts understandable and demonstrating their relevance to clinical practice.

Besides my teaching duties, I also support and lead the development and delivery of research programmes that can bridge the gap between evidence and clinical practice, and inform practice, service development and policy for historically under-served populations. My publications to date span a range of topics including identifying mechanisms underlying the development of moral injury in healthcare professionals, establishing best practices for meeting the trauma needs of deaf people, and exploring nosological relationships between commonly co-occurring needs, including personality disorder, trauma and autism.

I have authored or co-authored over 35 peer-reviewed journal articles, alongside six book chapters and numerous national and international conference presentations. I have received multiple awards for my research and dissemination activities, including the Emerald Literati Outstanding Paper Award in 2025 and 2022, as well as best poster awards from the British Psychological Society and Italian Society of Traumatic Stress Studies. I am also currently an invited Guest Editor for BMC Psychology, contributing to a special edition focused on moral distress in healthcare workers.

Alongside my academic and research work, I have undertaken specialist training to further develop my knowledge in clinical assessment, forensic practice and advanced research methodology. This includes training in the assessment of personality disorder using DSM-5 and ICD-11 approaches, the SCID-5-CV, and psychological formulation and risk scenario completion.
