Contact me

Shazia next to the River Ouse on Buckingham campusI am an academic and medical education specialist with more than a decade of experience in higher education, curriculum design, and healthcare training. My work has focused on developing innovative teaching approaches, integrating technology-enhanced learning, and leading on the use of digital health, artificial intelligence, and mixed reality in medical education.

Alongside this, I am also an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist by professional background, which allows me to bring a valuable clinical perspective into my teaching and programme leadership. This combination of academic and clinical experience shapes my approach to supporting students as they prepare for future study and careers in health and medicine.

Programme Lead Welcome

As Programme Lead for the Certificate of Higher Education in Pre-Medical and Health Studies, my role is to guide you through a programme that builds both a strong foundation in the biomedical sciences and a critical understanding of the wider social, cultural, and behavioural determinants of health. I believe this programme offers much more than knowledge alone. It gives you the opportunity to develop skills in scientific reasoning, reflection, communication, and digital literacy, which are increasingly essential in modern healthcare education and practice. My own expertise in digital education, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence directly supports these programme objectives, helping to prepare you for the expectations of medical schools and other health-related degrees.

I see this programme as a bridge between secondary education and the demands of medicine, psychology, biomedical sciences, and public health. My aim is to ensure that every student is supported not only in their academic journey but also in their professional and personal development. Through reflective practice, teamwork, and engagement with contemporary issues such as health inequalities and digital health innovations, I will work with you to develop the knowledge, confidence, and transferable skills you need for success. I look forward to leading you through this programme and helping you build a foundation that will carry you forward in your chosen healthcare pathway.
