Dr Mikołaj Sławkowski-Rode is Senior Research Fellow in Philosophy in the Humanities Research Institute, The University of Buckingham, and Course Director for the Philosophy MA and PhD. He is also a Research Fellow in Philosophy at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Warsaw. Dr Sławkowski-Rode is the founding member and co-director of the Humane Philosophy Society.
In 2024-2026 Dr Sławkowski-Rode was International Visiting Fellow at the School of Social Sciences and History at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium, Budapest. In the period 2017-2024 he was one of three investigators on a two-part John Templeton Foundation grant ‘New Horizons for Science and Religion in Central and Eastern Europe’. Since 2020 he has served as the main coordinator of the New Generation Research Exchange, a masterclass programme for early career researchers from Central and Eastern Europe.
Dr Sławkowski-Rode accepts research students in all major areas of philosophy. His principal areas of interest are philosophy of culture, philosophy of mind, aesthetics, phenomenology, philosophy of emotion, and metaphysics. He has wide teaching experience at Oxford University and Warsaw University among others. The courses he has offered include Pre-Socratics, Early Modern Philosophy, German Idealism, Existentialism, Kant, as well as courses on ontology and epistemology.
