Dr Gorby Jandu’s research examines the relationship between national identity and ethnicity in liberal democracies that have experienced prolonged periods of peace.

His work spans both majority and minority populations within newly settled and long-established communities. His doctoral thesis demonstrated a growing trend among younger British-born Sikhs to identify as English, suggesting that a majority of British-born Sikhs may adopt this identity in the future.

Jandu’s current research focuses on the meanings of Englishness, English ethnicity, and English national identity across white and non-white ethnic minority and majority British citizen groups in England. He holds a PhD in Political Sciences from The University of London.”
