Dr Daniel Pitt is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Buckingham. Dr Pitt is also a Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher at the Ludovika University as well as an Associate Fellow at the Centre for British Politics at the University of Hull. He has a multifaceted career spanning academia, local governance, and public commentary.
Dr Pitt holds a PhD from the University of Hull, where he specialised in the Conservative Party and British constitution under the supervision of Professor The Lord Norton of Louth. He also takes a keen research interest in both conservative and liberal thought, and he holds a MA from the University of Buckingham where he was taught by the late Professor Sir Roger Scruton.
Dr Pitt has published in academic journals such as Global Discourse, A French Journal of British Studies and British Politics journal. He has also published internationally in the Daily Express, Law & Liberty and The Spectator Australia. Dr Pitt has also published a book called Conservative Critique of Liberal Obligations and has edited a book with, leading conservative thinker, Phillip Blond called The Post Liberal Turn and The Future of Conservatism.
Dr Pitt works closely with Professor Ferenc Hörcher on several projects, including a new edited volume called Intellectual Conservatism: From Burke to Scruton that will be published by Routledge in 2025.
