Renault-Nissan Consulting is University of Buckingham’s new partner for Lean Enterprise

The University of Buckingham has a new partner – Renault-Nissan Consulting – for its MSc in Lean Enterprise and its short courses.

The Managing Director of Renault-Nissan Consulting, David Howells, will be teaching students on some modules from the MSc course, including Policy Deployment.

A series of collaborative projects between The University of Buckingham and Renault-Nissan Consulting are in the pipeline including case material write-ups, venue sharing at the Nissan plant in Sunderland and shared teaching opportunities.

The Buckingham MSc is designed for working managers and follows the philosophy of “learning by doing,” hence the week-long modules are almost all held on host sites so that the class can practise what they have learnt. Class sizes are small. It is the “intensity” of the learning which attracts many. With eight weekly modules over the first 12 months, delivered by lecturers with a balance of academic and practical experience, it would take years to be exposed to the same level of knowledge.

Renault-Nissan Consulting provide Lean Consultancy support that draws on over 20 years’ experience helping their parent companies and other organisations. Born out of Renault and Nissan’s internal improvement journey and with operations across the globe, they work in industries as diverse as Automotive through to Telecoms, Nuclear, Petrochemical, Financial Services and the Public Sector. Coming from the industry that invented Lean, they draw on the practical experience of helping apply Operational Excellence methodologies within their own global business.

Programme Director John Darlington said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Renault-Nissan Consulting because the “fit” with our own method of teaching work is so close.”

The part-time 22-month MSc in Lean Enterprise commences in January 2015.
