Professor David Jacques nominated for Archaeologist of the Year award

Mr David Jacques, Professorial Research Fellow in Archaeology at The University of Buckingham, has been nominated for the prestigious ‘Archaeologist of the Year 2023’ award by ‘Current Archelogy’.

Professor David Jacques and his team discovered the oldest settlement around Stonehenge whilst studying the area and the Mesolithic period. His dedicated work has greatly contributed to the understanding of Stonehenge’s early history and initial settlements of the area.

His pioneering excavation work at Stonehenge has previously been recognised, achieving the ‘Best Research Project of the Year’ in 2018, along with other awards and achievements throughout the years.

Voting opens today (1 December, 2022), and all of the awards are decided by the public. Voting closes 1 February 2023, with the winners announced on 25 February.
