Buckingham has received glowing praise for the high standard of its provision from the QAA and has met expectations in all four categories of its Higher Education Review, the first for five years.

The review panel was particularly impressed by the comprehensive approach to personalised support for learning, including the systematic operation of small-sized tutorial groups across all aspects of provision.

They also praised the embedding of innovative pathways into higher education provided by the Foundation Department, which enables a range of students to complete degree-level study.

Another area which impressed them was the coherent and systematic development of the Positive University initiative that promotes and supports the welfare of students and staff through a wide range of inter-related activities.

Vice-Chancellor Sir Anthony Seldon said: “The new Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) ranked us at the top in the country for teaching and the QAA has recognised our high teaching standards. Many other areas of excellence at the University are deservedly praised including the great work done by our Foundation Department. The Positive University approach that helps to build such a successful environment in which our students can flourish was also applauded. Staff should be very proud to have such a ringing endorsement from the QAA.”
