Congratulations! You’ve worked hard to gain your undergraduate degree and now is the time to decide what direction you want the next stage of your life to go.
There are many excellent graduate schemes and a whole host of interesting postgraduate study opportunities; but you want something that will set you apart; something that will make your CV stand out, not just in your first job, but in the years to come. Something that is recognised by employers, that says something important about your ability to hit the ground running, take on responsibility and adapt to the rapidly changing business environment.
The MSc in Applied Enterprise and Innovation focusses on examining and exploring the competencies that 81% of UK businesses consider to be the most important to succeed in the commercial world.
These important skills include: Understanding the Commercial World, Innovation and Enterprise, Written and Verbal Communications, Leadership, Organisation and Planning, Selling, Technology and Creative Design.
In addition to gaining a deeper, postgraduate level insight into academic models and theories, students will be given the opportunity to learn via experiential education. They will also analyse their own research, while building professional relationships with potential employers.
Normally, an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline at a good 2.2 or above from a recognised university will be required, and for non-native speakers of English, an IELTS (or equivalent) score of 6.5 or above or above. If however, you have recently decided to make a change in the direction of your career and have 5+ years’ work experience at senior level in a relevant career/industry sector and can demonstrate prior experiential learning, this may be accepted as a substitute for formal HE qualifications.
Teaching and learning for this programme will come via three workshops each week focusing on the theoretical frameworks and academic models underpinning the module outcomes.
Throughout the first three terms students will be given three “Skills Weeks” in which workshops will be replaced by mentoring sessions and guided study. The aim of these skills weeks is to develop a portfolio of enterprise activities applying theories taught throughout the course to produce value for an organisation.
Several times during the programme students will be required to interact with mentors from the business community to support themselves in applying theories to real world scenarios.
