Stuart HallA talk by Dr Stuart Hall, A guest speaker from the University of Newcastle, as part of the Computing Department’s guest seminar series.

Roughly speaking, the Ricci flow is a mathematical tool for smoothing the curvature of an initial shape so that the resulting shape is `rounder’.  It has found many mathematical applications in the last 30 years and now mathematicians and scientists are investigating how it can be used in the field of image analysis and shape registration. This seminar aims to give the audience an insight into my research of the Ricci flow and its purpose and involvement in image analysis.
