The University of Buckingham has topped the Guardian League Table for 2014 in the category of job prospects and overall in the National Student Survey section.

This is a huge achievement for the country’s only not-for-profit private university, which is one of the smallest in the UK.

It has also come second out of the country’s 119 universities for student: staff ratio and student feedback – how undergraduates and postgraduates rate their experience during their time at Buckingham. The University is ranked 25th overall, beating King’s College and Nottingham.

The Psychology Department has jumped from 20 to 16 in the Guardian League Table rankings since last year. The University also comes in the top ten in English and is ranked 18th. It comes 31st in Business and Management Studies, 34th in Law and 39th in Economics.

Pro Vice-Chancellor David Billington said: “It is particularly pleasing to see that Buckingham is number one in the UK for the career prospects of its graduates and also number one for overall student satisfaction in the annual NSS survey. We also have two departments – English and Psychology – in the top 20 for their individual subject areas.”
