Are you ready to become the next big leader in sport? At The University of Buckingham’s Institute of Sports Humanities, our MA, Diploma, and Certificate in Leadership in Sport have been designed for the next generation of leaders: from players, to captains, entrepreneurs, and even the sports media.
Led by the former England Cricket Selector, Ed Smith, the sports leadership degree explores how sport has developed into the third biggest industry in the world, examining issues such as cheating, doping, match-fixing and fair competition.
In this London-based course, you will gain knowledge from some of the most experienced sports leaders in the UK. It will cover a range of modules, including management and decision-making; the sports industry and entrepreneurship; sports governance, ethics and research methods; globalisation; the sporting event and society.
The programme will combine taught academic content and talks from leading industry professionals, along with independent research.

Ed Smith, Co-Founder and Director of the Institute of Sports Humanities
Ed Smith is a distinguished scholar of the history and sociology of sport, and a former international cricketer who has represented England, Cambridge University, Kent and Middlesex. He developed, and leads, the MA Leadership in Sport.
Your future career
You will develop the skills to progress into the many different roles within sports leadership, from management to sports journalism. With your understanding of the best modes of practice, what makes good decision-making, and the relationship between data and human judgement, you will be equipped to launch a leadership career in sport.
