Nuffield Science Bursary students complete projects in the Clore Laboratory
30 August 2009
Gemma Trott and Harrison Ferguson from the Royal Latin School, Buckingham successfully completed research projects in the Clore Laboratory.
Gemma worked on the characterisation of a novel pancreatic gene. Her studies included cell culture, gene expression and siRNA knock-down. Harrison completed a project entitled ‘Plasma metabolic profiling using high performance liquid chromatography’. Principally this was to develop a robust method for separating cholesterol particles.
Both students prepared scientific reports of their findings and carried out an oral presentation of their data in the Clore Laboratory, as well as at GlaxoSmithKline’s premises in Stevenage.
