Dr Valur Emilsson rejoins Clore Laboratory as Honorary Fellow in Bioinformatics

The Clore Laboratory is delighted to announce that Dr Valur Emilsson, currently a Scientific Director at MSD in Rahway, NJ, has accepted an honorary position as a Fellow in the Clore Laboratory, University of Buckingham.

Valur was at the Clore Laboratory as a research fellow from 1995 to 2000, during which he established a number of molecular biology protocols and undertook pioneering studies on leptin biology. After the Clore Laboratory, Valur was 6 years at DeCode Genetics in Iceland before moving to Merck. During this period he was involved in the identification of several novel susceptibility genes for obesity and type 2 diabetes with publications in Nature, Nature Genetics, Science and PLOS Genetics.

Valur will provide specialist advice to scientists in the Clore Laboratory on molecular network and pathway analysis.
