Hair-raising experience for charity auction

The manager of Hairspiration Studio, based at The University of Buckingham, is organising a charity auction to raise money for Cancer Research.

All the community are welcome to come along to Hairspirations, Hunter Street, on August 25th from 4 to 6 p.

Attendees are invited to bid for an impressive array of 100% human hair wigs made by Joy, which are intended for those who will need to wear a wig due to chemotherapy. They cost £500 on the NHS. Joy has made 17 and the idea is that people bid for a wig and all the money goes towards Cancer Research to help subsidise the costs of wigs.

Joy, a former business student at The University of Buckingham, said: “Losing your hair is absolutely devastating. You lose your self-esteem and often people just can’t afford £500 to pay for a wig. I would love as many people as possible from Buckingham to come forward and bid at the auction to help this worthy cause. I really want to change lives for the better for those who have to lose their hair because of cancer – please come and help me.”

There will be drinks, nibbles, music and fun, according to Joy, whose salon specialises in Afro Caribbean and European hair styling but also offers traditional styling.
