Students and their families are coming from all four corners of the world to celebrate Graduation at Buckingham.

Five new Honorary Graduates have been named by the University and they will have their honours conferred on them during the Graduation Ceremonies.

Lord Mervyn King, 68, served as a Governor of the Bank of England from 2003 – June 2013 and will be made an honorary graduate at the ceremony. Lord King, who has taught at Cambridge, Birmingham and Harvard Universities, was knighted in 2011 and made a life peer in 2013.

Businessman and Conservative member of the House of Lords, Lord Nigel Vinson, 86, will also be awarded an honorary degree. Lord Vinson was made a Life Peer for public service in 1985. He has donated £5.5m towards a new centre for liberal economics which will become the new focal centre of campus for the University.

Michael Beloff QC, 74, is in his fiftieth year in practise at the Bar and was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the annual Chambers ceremony in 2008. The Hon Michael Beloff is a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport and has arbitrated at five summer Olympics. His Father, Max Beloff. Was the first Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Local entrepreneur and chairman of Milton Keynes Dons F.C., Pete Winkelman, 59, will also receive an honorary degree from The University of Buckingham. In November 2015, Milton Keynes Council awarded Mr Winkelman with its highest ceremonial honour, the Freedom of the Borough of Milton Keynes.

Major (Rtd) Frank AO Clark served 37 years in the British Army. His last posting was as Chief Instructor at a military intelligence school before leaving the army in 1979.

Vice-Chancellor of The University of Buckingham Sir Anthony Seldon said: “Graduation at Buckingham is always a magnificent experience. We do it beautifully on a small scale so each student feels really special. There is a celebratory feel for the whole two days as the students’ happiness is felt all around the campus.
