Buckingham top of the class for Staff Student Ratio in Guardian rankings

30 May 2018

The University of Buckingham has been ranked in the top 20 for all six subject areas featured in the Guardian University Guide 2019, and in the top 10 for four subjects.

Buckingham has come in the top ten for Accounting and Finance, (5th), Business, Management and Marking (6th), Psychology, (8th), English and Creative Writing, (9th) and is in the top 20 for Law and Economics.

The University has also ranked top for student to staff ratio for Accounting & Finance, Psychology, and English and Creative Writing and fourth in Business, management & marketing. For law Buckingham ranks 7th best for staff/student ratios.

Director of Admissions and Recruitment James Seymour said: “We are delighted to be included in and so highly ranked in six of the subjects we offer at Buckingham. One of Buckingham’s strengths is our small class sizes and tutorial teaching styles for our two year degrees, which encourages more personal and interactive teaching, as commended by the TEF Gold rating in 2017. We are disappointed not to be included in the overall Guardian University ranking as our relatively small size means that the Guardian methodology only includes Universities with over eight subjects featured. Some of our thriving departments including Computing and Politics are deemed to be too small according to the methodology, which prevents them from being included.”
Buckingham’s Medical School will send its first set of graduates out into the Medical Profession in 2019 so will expect to be included in the 2020-2021 rankings.
