School of Dentistry

Welcome to the University of Buckingham Dental Institute

The University of Buckingham Dental Institute will be the UK’s first independent dental school. Offering an undergraduate programme alongside postgraduate courses and continuing professional development, our guiding philosophy is to produce and support highly ethical, honest and caring dental professionals who will always put the needs of their patients first.

The Dental Institute embraces the University of Buckingham’s ethos of focusing on a quality student experience. Whilst small enough for our students to be part of a coherent and supportive community, our Dental Institute will be large enough to provide all the experience necessary to train highly competent dental professionals.

Our five-year undergraduate BDS programme is based on a well-established curriculum and also involves patient-focused education right from the very start. Every aspect of the programme is designed to help our students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to become professional and ethical dentists.

As we live longer and keep our teeth longer, maintaining oral and dental health across the globe becomes increasingly challenging, particularly in light of complex medical problems. Our distinctive education and research programmes will prepare dental professionals for this ever-changing landscape whilst enhancing treatment outcomes and ensuring patient safety.

Our Dental Institute is under development and we hope to welcome the UK and international students from 2021. As an independent dental school, we have no cap on international student places. Please contact us for more information or to register your interest.
