Any larger school pays an apprenticeship levy (a tax) which can be reclaimed if that school has new or existing staff taking apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships can only be delivered by providers on the Register of Approved Training Providers (RoATP). The external apprenticeship provider who works with The University of Buckingham is the National College of Education, offering the MEd. This apprenticeship is actually called Level 7 Senior Leader.
Candidates should apply through the NCE. Schools need to register to offer apprenticeships and NCE will help them with that.
The University provides quality assurance and accredits the MEd.
The Senior Leader apprenticeship is bigger than the MEd. For this reason candidates need to do some extra work, which is managed by the NCE.
Also, the overall apprenticeship is assessed by an external awarding organisation. In this case it is the Chartered Management Institute.
