The Buckingham Bangladesh Scholarship

Introduction

Established in 2008, the Buckingham Bangladesh Scholarship reflects two things: the importance placed on higher education by the Bangladeshi community and the University of Buckingham's recognition of the value of developing individuals through an intensive student-centred university experience.

The Scholarship will help build bridges by investing in the future - in education - and by encouraging connections that foster pride in being British and being Bangladeshi.

The Buckingham Bangladesh Scholarship will provide places at the University for members of the Bangladesh community in perpetuity. In order to achieve this, the fund has an initial target of £1.5 million.

The Scholarship will benefit students who show integrity of character and aspire to academic success. They will demonstrate the ability to become future leaders and - whether British born or from mainland Bangladesh - students receiving this award will contribute back to their own communities after leaving Buckingham.

The first applicants will be expected in 2011 and will be assessed purely on merit. Application forms will be available from the end of 2010.

Funds to support the Scholarship are raised through the University of Buckingham Foundation. The Foundation was created to support and promote all aspects of the education of actual and potential Buckingham students. Read more …

Support the Scholarship

There are two primary ways to support the Scholarship; either through a direct contribution of any amount to the University of Buckingham Foundation (cheques payable to the Buckingham Bangladesh Scholarship; you can use the the order / gift form) or by purchasing a copy of Crescent and Delta, available from the University of Buckingham Press.

Anyone can support the Buckingham Bangladesh Scholarship scheme by purchasing this book. For every copy sold at cover price, £10 goes directly to the fund. All donors to the Scholarship fund (through a direct gift, book purchase, or major sponsorship) will be mentioned in the University's Annual Report and will also receive a special certificate from the University.
