External funding
There are a great many funding opportunities for international and home students from sources external to the University. If you do decide to make an application via one of these sources please remember that:
- You must do so in plenty of time - the recommendation is at least one year before your programme starts.
- You must make sure your scholarship application is clear and concise - if the scholarship provider has an application form, please use it.
- Most scholarships only offer part payment of fees so you must be able to support yourself for the remainder.
If your scholarship application is successful please let the Admissions Office know.
Chevening scholarship
These are extremely prestigious scholarships, funded principally by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and are mainly for postgraduate students, for Master's degrees.
The scholarship meets the cost of University fees and includes a grant for living and other expenses. They are intended for people who are likely to make a significant contribution to the life of their own countries, so not intended for students who intend to remain in the UK after their studies are complete.
There is an active alumni association for Chevening Scholars. Previous scholars include a number of heads of state, prime ministers, many cabinet ministers, lawyers and others. Chevening scholarships are administered by British Council offices and British diplomatic posts overseas.

Commonwealth scholarship
We currently have one award for January 2011 for the LLM in International and Commercial Law.
Applications can now be made electronically through the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship website (external link). Please read the scholarship entry criteria very carefully before applying.
The closing date for applications is 7 May 2010. All applications will be assessed by our Postgraduate Admissions Tutor after this date.
Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation offers Ambassadorial Scholarships of up to $23,000. Applications must be made through a Rotary Club in the student's own country.
