How to apply - Useful advice

It's useful to remember that academic criteria are not the only factors our admissions tutors take into account when assessing your application. They also look for personal qualities, maturity, relevant experience, an awareness of the course and how it fits in with any proposed career path.

Decisions on whether to offer you a place are often made solely on the basis of the application form we receive. Here are some useful tips to consider when filling in your form:

  • Presentation is very important. We are looking for students who are organised and well-motivated. An untidy application form with difficult-to-read handwriting and mistakes will give a poor impression
  • Practise filling in photocopies of the blank form first. Make sure everything you want to say fits into the space available
  • Use black ink - UCAS forms are photo-reduced and photocopied before they are sent to us, black ink copies better
  • Avoid small handwriting, for the same reason as above
  • Get someone to check your form - they may see mistakes that you have overlooked

Please note that not all departments at Buckingham interview applicants & it may be impractical for an applicant to travel to the University.
