Robert Ngala, a Clore Laboratory alumni and visiting fellow, presented a poster at the International Diabetes Federation Congress held in Montreal. Robert is currently a lecturer at Kumasi University, Ghana.
Previous publications from his DPhil studies demonstrated highly unusual pharmacology of two beta-adrenoceptor agonists (clenbuterol and BRL 37344) with respect to glucose uptake in skeletal muscle. The poster presentation showed similarities and differences in the signalling pathways of the two beta-adrenoceptor agonists.
The title of the poster was ‘Signalling transduction mechanisms of BRL 37344 and clenbuterol-stimulation glucose uptake in mouse isolated soleus muscle’ by R. Ngala, C. Stocker, M.A. Cawthorne and J.R.S. Arch. It was poster 1249.
