EXAM PERFORMANCE REWARDED IN THE LAW SCHOOL

Buckingham' Law School's prize winning students with Dean, Sue Edwards (right)

Thursday 28 January 2010

Buckingham Law School abounded with applause and the gentle clink of glasses yesterday (Wednesday 27 January) at their biannual reception for new students. New and existing students listened as the Dean, Susan Edwards, reinforced the huge responsibility they are taking on by being part of the legal profession. She encouraged them to challenge issues that they thought are unjust and to play an active part in the University by joining one of the many student societies that are actively working at Buckingham. Most particularly she encouraged students to join the Law Society and the Amnesty International Society. All student societies will be represented on Wednesday 3 February at the Societies Fair.

The reception was also an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge success in the recent examinations with a number of students winning University prizes. Laura Taylor, winner of the prize for the best performance in Sports Law said:

I have very much enjoyed studying for my LLB at the University of Buckingham. I am now in the final six months of my degree programme and the help I have recieved from my tutors, lecturers and non teaching staff has made such a difference to the grades I have been able to achieve. The LLB (Law) degree programme is challenging but the small tutor groups means there is always time to go over areas you find more difficult and the other students never fail to be friendly and encouraging.

Buckingham town itself is also a lovely setting for the university and I can honestly say that I will very much miss both the town and the university when I finish in June.
