LAW STUDENTS' MOOTING SUCCESSES
Teams from Buckingham (left) and Warwick (right) with Mrs Abigail Howson (the judge) at the Weekly Law Reports moot
Monday 21 December 2009
University of Buckingham Law students have had a very busy mooting calendar during 2009. There have been numerous internal mooting competitions run throughout the year. During the Summer Term a more organised approach to student mooting was adopted in response to a marked increase in enthusiasm for mooting amongst the student body. A mooting workshop was organised, followed a week later by a student moot which was judged by three of the Law School staff. The Autumn Term saw two further exhibition moots amongst Buckingham students and the national competition season began. Buckingham has competed in three national competitions so far this year: the Weekly Law Reports National Competition, the OUP / BPP National Mooting Competition and the ESU Essex Court Chambers National Competition, winning two of their three moots. This means that Buckingham teams will be competing in national competitions as we enter 2010 (including, also, the one-day Inner Temple Inter-Varsity Competition), and the Winter Term sees the launch of a formal internal mooting competition too. A busy year lies ahead!
