BUCKINGHAM TOPS EMPLOYABILITY TABLE

The University of Buckingham has the highest ranking in the UK for student satisfaction and has now topped the employability table, with 100 per cent of its 2007-08 cohort going on to work or further study according to the Times Higher Education on 19 July 2009.
This figure bucks the trend based on figures released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) which shows the number of jobless degree-holders has risen. According to Hesa's performance indicators, the proportion of graduates who were unemployed six months after they left university rose by more than a third, from 5.7 per cent to 8.2 per cent, in 2007-08. Since then, the economic situation has worsened.
The university put its success down to its size. Terence Kealey, Vice-Chancellor of Buckingham, said: "We have a comprehensive programme of employability skills sessions and, because we are so small, we can tailor our support to individual students."
