UNIVERSITY'S SECOND ANNUAL DINNER IN LONDON

Tuesday 6 May 2008

The Buckingham "Annual Dinner" was held at the Leathersellers' Hall in the City of London on Thursday 1 May 2008. The 71 guests included two former Vice-Chancellors, Lord Luce and Professor Sir Alan Peacock, the Chancellor of the University, Sir Martin Jacomb, along with members of Council, donors, alumni and members of staff.

The Leathersellers' Hall is a magnificent building, an ideal setting for such an illustrious event. The surroundings were matched by the high quality of the dinner and excellent service provided by the Leathersellers' staff.

The guest speaker was Lord Hurd, who talked about his recently published book, Robert Peel: A Biography, showing his in-depth knowledge of the man and his life. Alumnus Mr David Taylor gave thanks to Lord Hurd and emphasised the traditions of the University and the desire of alumni to maintain contact with Buckingham.

The guests came from many countries and represented a wide range of professions and organisations. Many people commented that wherever they travel in the world, they find Buckingham alumni, who are very proud of their education at the University and never fail to promote it to their friends and colleagues.

The whole evening was a great success, enabling the guests to meet old friends and make new acquaintances in a formal but very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. A full list of guests is available (PDF file of 7 KB).
