The Aylesbury Vale Enterprise Hub received a fantastic show of support with over 60 guests attending the launch presentations at the University's Chandos Road campus on Tuesday 15th November.
The Hub is a SEEDA -backed initiative aimed at providing intensive support to entrepreneurial businesses. It plans to take advantage of the skills and experience of Buckingham Business School in supporting growing businesses, in particular its acknowledged expertise in service management.
Following words of welcome by the Chancellor, Sir Martin Jacomb, the guests heard three presentations about entrepreneurial activity and the Hub, chaired by Vice Chancellor Terence Kealey. Professor Philip Dover opened with news on the Business School's new programmes, featuring the Bachelors in Business Enterprise; he also offered some thoughts on a more entrepreneurial future for the faculty as a whole.
This was followed by insights from Jeremy Garson, a Buckingham Alumnus who founded a successful company specialising in events management across Europe. He placed a strong emphasis on the mindset, values and motivation of entrepreneurs.
Martin Brassell concluded the formal presentations by talking about what the Hub had accomplished to-date, showing video clips of four businesses currently receiving intensive support. He urged the businesses present to get involved, either by registering as providers to the Hub, or as members.
The Hub is looking forward to a further launch event next week targeted at businesses in Aylesbury and hopes to open a hatchery for start-up businesses at the University's Chandos Road campus in January 2006, following receipt of a capital grant from SEEDA .
